In the world of book publishing, Susi Oberhelman is admired for her unique ability to combine modern graphics with classic sensibility. She has created hundreds of highly illustrated books that never lose their style. Early in her career, she was recruited as the first art director for book producers Smallwood & Stewart. She later headed up the art department of Artisan, the illustrated books division of Workman Publishing.
To broaden her base, she formed SVO Graphic Design; her roster of clients includes esteemed publishers Aperture, Rizzoli, HarperCollins, Hearst Books, Simon & Schuster, Stewart, Tabori & Chang, Abrams, Vendome, and Monacelli, as well as organizations such Central Park Conservancy, National Resources Defense Council, Museum at FIT, and Whole Foods. While gift-book design is the core of SVO Graphic Design, the firm continues to diversify its services, developing identities and promotional materials for small business and private accounts.
